About the Author

Jo Ann Beresford Perkins graduated from Red Bluff High School and attended the University of California at Berkeley, graduating with 
a degree in Social Welfare. She worked as a flight attendant in Denver, Colorado, for United Air Lines before her marriage to George 
Perkins. They returned to Mineral, operating Lassen Park Ski Area and the Mineral Lodge with family until 1980. Moving to Red Bluff as 
a real estate broker, she established Mountain Valley Real Estate and worked as a tour director for Lassen Transit. She still owns a 
cabin in Mineral and lives in Northern California.
